Can I get my personal property back if I have a bill of sale?
bought a horse still have the bill of sale. On the bill of sale it says I can leave the horse there as long as I like free of charge. so it’s been 5 months and I wish to get my horse back? The lady says not until I pay her $ 2000 for board. I gave her 0 for food before I left. Can she legally keep my horse. Is there a law against this? How do I get my horse back without having to pay more money?

if that is written on the bill of sale by her, then take it to the police and see if they will go over with you and get your horse back
You may want to contact an attorney about this one since it even states on the bill of sale that you can leave the horse free of charge.
If the bill of sale clearly states that you can leave your horse as long as you like, free of charge, you are not even required to pay for the horses feed.
This woman is trying to rip you off. I would go to her place, with the bill of sale, tell her that you came to take your horse. If she still refuses, stay at the scene, call the police and tell them that you have a domestic dispute and this woman is refusing to return your property to you. The police may not be able to get her to release the horse but you want to have a police report so that you can sue this woman.
A bill of sale is a contract, your contract does not impose any time line for removal, in fact it shows that she has willingly agreed to allow the horse to remain there free of charge, it is also likely that you could get your $500 back that you paid her for feed.
There are laws that cover this, first it would be breach of contract, her actions may also constitute fraud and blackmail. Should she sell the horse to recover what she claims as expenses due she would be guilty of illegal conversion.
By all means, if she refuses to return your property, get an attorney, one letter from his is likely to change her mind.
