I am considering a dual boot configuration for my computer…?
I would like to have a small section for linux, and most of it for Windows xp sp2. The idea is all about security. I would like to do all my web surfing within linux, because it is less susceptible to malware attacks, and keep all my other data and software running in Windows. Is this a very common and viable solution? Are most websites compatible with linux, and are there good browsers that work in linux? What are the best products today for keeping windows free of malware?

I have linux running on top of my Windows XP SP2. I do web browsing on Linux so I may be safe in spywares and it works great!
I use dual boot on all my systems! I dont use linux but each of my network PCs has two hard drives. I have the op sys and software I mainly use on the primary complete with all drivers and I copy the primary to the slave and set my systems to boot from the slave. If I find software or files I want to keep I simply save them to my cd or dvd burner or transfer them to the primary drive and label them so I know what they are. If a hard drive failure occurs, its a simple matter of reformating the slave and recopying! I have tried every other method in the book and this works the greatest!
Having a dual-boot Linux and Windows notebook is convenient. The convenience is extended by sharing application data between both operating systems. Being able to run Mozilla Firefox and Thunderbird transparently from both Linux and Windows further enhances a dual-boot system’s versatility.
Although a large number of steps are required to create the shared configuration, the individual steps are not difficult for someone familiar with locating, copying and editing files and directory structures in both the Windows and Linux operating systems.
