Is anyone else receiving phone calls and mail from opposing party?
I have been getting one or more calls a day from the opposing party trying to convince me to vote their way. I have a stack of postcards and mailing from this same party with my name and address on it. My husband, who is registered as the opposite party as I am does not receive anything. This seems to me to be a violation of my rights to privacy. How is it that this list can be sold with all of my personal information and do you think this is wrong too?

No. Legitimate survey research and marketing is exempt from the Telemarketing Sales Rule, which was adopted by the Federal Trade Commission to fight fraud and protect consumers from harassment. The rule covers marketing, opinion polling and market research that does not involve an effort to sell you something.
Nonetheless most interviewing centers will honor your request if you tell them to stop contacting/mailing you.
These political polls and marketing materials typically focus on public issues and the views of the public about elected officials. Political polls also try to measure how voters are reacting and have reacted in the past to candidates in political campaigns. This is why they may not be contacting your husband. It’s possible they already have a sense of how he votes.
Believe it or not…some people still haven’t decided who to vote for and marketing /mailings help them make up their mind.
