We have been having issues with SWS for quite some time now. We are running it on a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 R2 SP2. It seems as though once a week we are having to restart SWS Service and when we stop the service it states, "Could not stop the symantec web security service on local computer error 1067: the process terminated". So it appears it has already stopped but not showing stopped within the status colum of the Services window. We then start the service without any errors and it works fine. …well, for a few days. There are multiple instances of the following event within Event Viewer:
Event Type:Error
Event Source:SWS
Event Category:None
Event ID:107
Date:6/17/2009
Time:4:13:56 PM
User:N/A
Computer:ABLCSEC
Description:
The description for Event ID ( 107 ) in Source ( SWS ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: Error: File mem://10005983.gzip open failed, error 22..
Data:
0000: 16 00 00 00 ….
…where the "Error: File mem://10000136.gzip", ranges to "Error: File mem://10002CB0.gzip", but that is the only thing that changes within the Event Properties.
I have tried searching on Symantec’s site and on multiple blogs, but really have been unsuccessful at finding anything.
