Whenever I try to open a website related to an antivirus software it does not open……….like symantec quickheal eset mcafee ca and others it does not also open microsoft…….
its a problem for me i have also formated my pc and installed windows again but the problem was not solved…
I am not using any firewall or any option that blocks these sites…..
or any proxy…….
And if i install any antivirus it doesnot detect internet connection….
If I run my pc in safe mode with networking it does not connect to internet as i use a dail up connection that requires an username and password…
I have used these software to remove conflicker but they did not detect it….
trend micro hijack this
malware bytes anti malware
rootkit buster
panda anti-rootkit
sophos conflicker remover
microsoft malware remover (or somthing like that)
many other conflicker removers…..
I do not have any other pc with internet so i cannot download any security software from any antivirus site..
I used these after downloading from other sites…..
There is no important data in my pc and I am ready to reinstall windows xp as many times as i have to to remove this virus…..
I think conflicker has infected my svchost process

ok i need help choosing security software ive gotten a list of my five favorite choices in order,(will be getting laptop wiht 4gig ram, and intel core 2 duo processor)
1.kaspersky 2010
lots of features rhobust security, but it takes up 350k of ram while scanning for me so that is a big issue, also it takes up more than others just being there, big plus is sandbox and hips(i think, but cant remember)
2.Avira Premium Security Suite
av has excellent scanning capabilities, i dont know about firewall, but if its as good as its av then it should be fine
3.norton
i heard 2009 is very good and 2010 is better,its light, my only issue is a really bad experience that killed my computer basically, had to take it to tech
4.eset
what i have on one of the computers in my house, its light very good scanning, firewall is very simple, but i guess i can live with it, it is non intrusive, issue no hips as far as i know, also ive heard bad things about it lately
5.g-data
i heard it is a ram hog, but it scanning rates are high due to two av engines running on it

my uncle also recommended mcafee so ill put it on, but ive heard very bad things of it and never have been a fan of it

plz tell me why u think one is better than the rest, also(im not looking for a free one), (in addition i use malwarebytes, superantispyware, and spybot search and destroy)
Jon has the best answer so far since it comes from consumer reports ..but can you tell me anything about kaspersky

How do I get better firewall on my computer?

The computer I have at my dad’s house is a XP and a decent computer, but it’s kinda suckish on protection. I use spybot search and destroy, and Norton until it expires. Then im downloading AVG free to replace Norton. Anyone have any suggestions on how to get better firewall?

Comodo has the best free firewall out there.If you download it,just get the firewall and not the anti-virus as AVG is better than Comodo’s.

After it’s installed,disable your Windows firewall.

Make sure that Norton is disabled before you begin the uninstall or it will leave live and active files and folders behind that will prevent you from installing another anti-virus.
