We use the services of a notary public about once or twice a month at my current job, so my boss suggested that I go ahead and get certified. The business is going to pay for all the costs that come along with getting certified. I currently make .50 an hour. Should I ask for a raise after my certification? If so, how much? I have worked here for 8 months and this would be my first raise.

I have received a letter from the Attorney Grievance stating that the lawyer I had doing my case violated MCR 9.104(A)(2)-(4) and MRPC 1.1(b); and, 1.3. I need a Lawyer who will take on this case and sue for pain an suffering for loss of money that I could have received if the Lawyer would have done her job right. Do I have a case? (Legal Malpractice)?

Do I Have a Malpractise Case? ( Law Malpractice).?
I got injured on my job December 11, 2007. I hired a lawyer to represent me at the worker compensation board. This lawyer never asks me what my duty was, or how I got hurt. I have tried to call him numerous times to talk to him, he never returned my calls. Before all that, he would not call me to confirm a court appointment.

1. – I had a hearing, he sent a lawyer from his firm who was socializing with the opponent and his lawyers. I was being asked questions after questions; he was just seating next to me and smiling. He has not pronounced a word during the entire meeting. It was like I was on my own.

2. – I called him to let him know I did not like the behavior of that lawyer, I called him few times, he never returns the calls.

3. – I had a second hearing, he sent another lawyer who told me the first one quit the firm he is now working for the opponent law firm. For some reasons on that day the hearing was cancelled.

4. – I had a hearing for 9/9/2008 at 2:30 PM, I called him to let him know I would not be able to attend, he told me he would make arrangement that I could be on the phone. I called him in the morning he did not pick up the phone or calling me back. When I called the board, they told me he did not make any arrangement so they were not sure.

5. – The insurance carrier refused to approve the treatment I should receive; I call him in the hope he will intervene, in the situation. He ignored my calls.
6. – The doctor fax a letter to the insurance carrier requesting authorization for an injection for my treatment. The insurance carrier waits 50 days before they denied me the injection. They usually wait 30 days for an approval or disapproval. I called the lawyer requesting his help, his secretary took my name and my phone number, and he never returns my calls.
7. – While waiting for the insurance’s approval for the injection I got fired from my job. Reason, I failed to give them a doctor’s note. (It took their insurance 50 days to deny me an injection).
8. – I used to transfer an individual from a wheelchair, to a toilet seat every 2 hours using my back. I had to switch him side every two hours over night using my lower back. I have been out of work because of my work related injury since December 11, 2007. I have been trying to call that lawyer to explain to him what my function was and how I got injured on the job, he totally ignored me.
9. – The last straw, I spoke to him two weeks ago about the hearing I was supposed to have on September 9, 2008. He told me he would make arrangement with the WCB to have me testified over the phone. When I called, on 9/9/2008, I was told there was no arrangement made. The hearing was made without me present or over the phone, as a result I was rewarded 00.00

my loan is approved…i gave the other seller attorney 10% down to be put in an escrow account, contract is sign by both party. my closing date is sometimes in aug. i think i may lose my job so i dont think i want to go ahead w/ the purchase.

i’ve been working on a ship as a 3rd engineer and while working on the diving bell bilge (diving bell bilged is 10 ft below ) then sudenly i feel crushing pain on my left breast. ifinish ny job and tell them to call the medic to asses me . they assess that heart attact so they bring me to hospital. while in hospital they do a tripple heart by pass operation. i would like to ask if i can get conpensation to what happen .

I have been introduced to three systems that operate in the Multi-level Marketing so far, and all have sounded too good to be true. I must admit that I am looking for another opportunity just in case my job goes under (i.e. I’m working for the government), but I’m not the one to get caught up in la-la land from one-sided opinions. Is this whole multilevel marketing (also known as network marketing) thing as prosperous as their claims or is it as scam ridden as they sound?

I am over the age of 21 now, as a child when I was in school I was labeled as emotional disturbed due to my family situation. I was sexually abused and had a hard time dealing with all that happened. I was never a danger to myself or anyone else, i just was very reserved and did not speak a lot to adults. I did however speak to the school psychologist because I was ordered to due so. So she knows of all of my school records, family history and all the details that I disclosed to her.
Well as I said I am now over the age of 21 and have obtained the job as child mentor, I went in this field because I want to help children over come whatever situations that they are in, just like I was helped. (Not by the school psych mind you.) But as it works out I work in the same school district as him, and the child that I mentor is also under his case load. The psych has taken it upon himself to tell other teachers, and the principal of the school, that and I quote… "Should not be working with any kids, can not possibly help any of them. That I was emotionally disturbed in school, and had a lot of trouble in school. And that he doesn’t want me working with any children." Even though this has been almost 10 years ago, that I was even in this school district. His words have traveled all the way to social services (for whom I work) and all the way down to my boss. He was told the situation by his boss. Thank God they are not firing me or anything like that, but because of this psychologist everyone that I work with and that works with this child knows my personal childhood and school issues. I am just so hurt because all of my re-pore that I have been building for the last to years is tarnished. I feel that all I have is what people think of me.
What I want to know is:
1.) Have my rights been violated? He told my personal school Information to other people which have now resulted in my employers finding out.
2.) I am over the age of 21, does that mean that he can give out that info now?
3.) If my rights were violated what can I do about it? What should I do about it?

To be clear it was about 5 years ago that I was in this school, but I started seeing this person from the time I was 15 on up through school. And he is the school psych for all the surrounding schools. Plus we live in the same community. So it is hard to forget a face.

Yesterday I was served documents from the court for an upcoming court date. The constable that delivered the court documents left the paperwork with my office manager. Now the entire department knows about my "private matter." I called the constables office and spoke with the guys supervisor. Needless to say he was pissed. Moreover, my pristine reputation has been damaged. I will never get promoted. May even lose my job over this issue. I can’t be fired that they [management] know about my personal affairs, but there is an unwritten rule in my company that employees manage their affairs in a way that is deemed "moral" and just by management. Be that as it may, my earning potential has been delt a major blow because of the inappropriate behavior of this constable. Do I have a law suit? I live in Texas.

I think I pretty much know the answer to this but I’d figure I’d ask anyway. I have worked at my job for 5 years, it’s a very small company. My 2 bosses and I are pretty close, although lately it’s felt as if something was off but I didn’t know what.

Well, I just found out about a month ago that spy software was downloaded onto my work computer. I know that it is the company computer and that it is their right to do so if they want. HOWEVER, I am pretty upset because my bosses know that I send emails from my personal account (they’ve never had a problem with it) and I check my bank accounts and a lot of other things on there that they know about and have never discouraged it.

I guess I just feel violated in a way that is probably not right because, again, I KNOW it is their computer. I guess my question is do they have to have a written or voiced company policy on computer or email monitoring? Like do they have to have something that says they reserve the right to monitor my activities or can they just download keyloggers and such at my desk when I am not there and have at it?
Yeah, I do not have a contract or anything like that. As I said, it is a very small company. They don’t even have a handbook or anything. There is nothing anywhere that has been given to me or that I have sign that has ANY kind of company policy on it.

I understand that they want to make sure that nothing ‘illegal’ is being done or anything of that nature. I assure you I’m not perusing porn site on the clock, lol. I guess I am just upset that these people have screen shots of my bank accounts and stuff like that now. When they knew full well that I check my bank accounts online and such.

I have been married to my husband since a pretty young age. He fully takes care of me financially (i work for him), and before him my family took care of me financially. I feel very underpaid (in comparison to him) and he doesn’t pay me if we are in an argument, so I am totally broke at times. Does anyone know privacy rights for Independent Contractors (legal privacy rights?) This is specifically email related. Emails were sent from a work laptop and, unbeknownst to the IC, were downloading into an Outlook shortcut on the desktop. THE IC never used that icon to go into their mail (it is a web-based email account that belongs to the IC NOT a company account), but the emails were all downloading there anyway because of a short-cut that had been set up by an IT person. The web-based email account was used for business AND personal emails and recently, when the work relationship was dissolved, the former employer read all of the emails, including those that were intensely private and non-business related. There were also electronic copies of the IC’s tax returns in that email account. The Employer states that he had a right to the emails because they were located on a laptop he owned. Is this the case?

The IC was not aware the emails were downloading into that Outlook, or they would have deleted that shortcut and program before leaving the job.

Would like to know my legal rights.

I saw an ARNP for a worker’s compensation injury. I lost my case, partly because the hearing officer knew I hated my job. Prior to going to my hearing, I finally was able to read my medical reports from this crappy ARNP. In it, he wrote that I hated my job among other personal things we discussed. So did he violate my privacy rights? I think he did. Will I be able to sue?

I was not feeling very well at work. I spoke to the scheduler and told her as soon as the shift was over I’d be heading to the ER and I would not be able to come in tomorrow. I work 16 hours Sat and Sun. I am also 31 weeks pregnant. The on call nurse that would have to cover my shift, asked me to call him and let him know if I could work. after i called him and said no, he said ok. three hours later he called the ER and told them he was my husband and he needed to talk to me NOW, because it was an emergency. I was given medication that made me woozy, so the nurse walked with me to the phone. I discovered it was the on call nurse from work. He told me I had to come work for the 2nd half of my shift. I hadn’t even been released from the ER yet. I did go to work because I didn’t want to lose my job and he is in a position of authority over mine. I was still intoxicated from my medication in the ER. I should not have been taking care of patients. Do I have any personal or privacy rights?

Alabama statute of limitations help?

I live in Mobile Alabama. I was arrestesd in 2001 for marijuana 2nd. I was given 1 year probation, fines, and n/a classes. which I have completed. I was recently arrested for the same exact charge this month of 2010. I have no proof on paper that i completed everything. And what they say they have for this is…Failure to complete probation. But I did. What is likely to happen when i show up for court since its been so long, I cannot afford attorney! No trouble since then and even had license reinstated. Any Real advice or help?

If you really did finish probation then that will all come out in court, but this will still count as a second offense. Request a public defender if you can’t afford an attorney on your own.
I have a sneaking suspicion that you’re confused about the terms of your probation though. The part about drug classes probably had a stipulation that you stay drug free.
