German is a widespread second language, but only in the South of Brazil, where there is a large number of German immigrants. The states of Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul are the ones with the largest number of German descendants. However do not expect to hear German be spoken in the large cities like Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro or even Porto Alegre (capital of Rio Grande do Sul state).
Besides that I would think that Italian is the third most spoken language due to the huge number of Italian immigrants too. Sao Paulo, for example, concentrates more Italian speaking people than Rome!

What is my first day of school?
I have (thursday) a day where I basically go, get my books, take my pic and get a tour of the campus. I will be there for abut 1-2 hours. I am coming in as a Juinor, and this is a new student regestation, so it will be 98% Freshman.
The other (next Wednesday) day I actually start my classes, and have a full day of school.
I have no uniforms, and you are supposed to look all nice on your “first” day of school, so what counts as my first day?

Is there a difference?
I imagine that many people, on reading the title of this article, laughed smugly to themselves, then wandered off thinking vague thoughts about the English and Americans having different names for the same thing. If you were one of these people, then don’t worry – you’re right! Or at least you’re partially right. In general, CVs are used throughout most of the world, while resumes are the common format in America. However, there are significant differences between the two documents, and if you plan to succeed in the employment market it is important that you are familiar with the features and uses of both. Let’s go through them one at a time.
The differences in brief
At first glance, the differences between the two seem slight. Both consist of a structured list of facts that allows you to impart relevant information about your skills and achievements to an employer as quickly and simply as possible.
Although in essence they both serve the same purpose, the main difference between a CV and a resume is that a CV acts as a complete record of your professional history, while a resume is a short, targeted list of transferable skills and accomplishments, intended to show how you can be of specific benefit to the particular company to which you are applying.
As I mentioned earlier, throughout most of the world, the CV is the standard format for job applications. However, in the US, resumes are more common, and CVs are reserved almost completely for jobs in academia or when applying for grants. As a result, many international workers possess both a CV and a resume and choose between them as necessary.
In the following sections, I shall discuss the features of each type of document in more detail, and close with a brief look at how to decide which one is best for you.
Features of a CV
A CV, or Curriculum Vitae, to give it its Latin name, is an account of your entire education and employment history. The term translates as ‘course of life’, and it really is that – a record of your working life so far. It is far more detailed than a resume, from which elements are often excluded if they are considered irrelevant. A CV should include everything you’ve ever done, listed in reverse chronological order, to make it easier to prioritise more recent information. As a result, a CV is longer than a resume, although two pages is the recommended length.
Information in a CV is arranged according to subheadings, to make it easier for the reader to quickly skim through and find the information he or she needs. Remember, your CV is intended to let prospective employers find out about you in the hope that they will offer you a job, so it’s in your interest to make it easy to understand!
The sections of a CV may include the following, although many sections can be moved up or down depending on what information is relevant for the specific job.
Profile/Objectives – a short statement, tailored to fit the requirements of the prospective employer;
Education/Qualifications – a list of institutions and courses, with grades awarded and dates attended;
Skills/Competencies – any skills or achievements that are relevant to the job. You can include most things, but be sensible – there is no need to mention the 10m swimming badge you got when you were six!
Career Summary – this should be the most detailed part, it can be moved higher up the document if necessary. Each job should have a short description of the skills you used and your achievements within the role. A few bullet points are sufficient, with more detailed accounts of more recent/relevant positions.
Features of a resume
A resume should be a shorter, more focused account of your relevant skills and achievements. Although the exact length of a resume is open to debate, in general it should not exceed one page in length, and it’s safer to be conventional; after all, you want to get the job. It’s fine to miss things out of a resume to keep the length down; you should only include the things that are most relevant to the position you are targeting. Resumes also often miss out some of the more personal details that CVs include, such as hobbies and interests.
As with CVs, resumes are usually organised into a few essential sections. However, one key difference between a CV and a resume is that resumes are focused on your skills and accomplishments, rather than providing an objective account of your history. As a result, resumes often feature aggrandising language, and tend to be more obviously self-promoting than CVs.
You can afford to be a bit less formal with the structure of a resume than with a CV, and there is a wider scope for creative presentation. That said, there are three main formats that are generally used:
Chronological – this is the most common format, and is very similar in organisation to a CV;
Functional – your skills/qualifications act as a backbone, around which the rest of the resume is structured;
Focused – as above, but with the content organised in relation to the targeted position.
It is often better to stick to one of these tried and tested formats than to attempt to wow an employer with your own unique design. These have a chance of backfiring if your reader doesn’t like them, so why take the risk? The only time I could see the point of designing your own format is if you are entering a creative field, such as design.
What to use, and when to use it
The general rule to go by here is that if you are in America, use a resume, and if you are anywhere else in the world, use a CV. However, if you are applying for an academic position, or for a grant, it is better to send a CV, regardless of where you are. Things are further complicated by the rising popularity in the UK of short CVs, which, at less than two pages, are confusingly similar to a resume.
One of the main reasons to have a short CV was to stand out from the crowd, but almost everybody follows this model and it no longer has the same impact as it used to. As a result, the old style of CV is making a comeback, for the same reasons that it disappeared in the first place. Whether you choose to follow the trend, or stick with convention is up to you. Personally, I have both kinds, and I decide which version to send out on a per-company basis.
In fact, it is safer to make two versions anyway. Set aside some time and write yourself both a CV and a resume; it doesn’t take much effort, and it means that you’ll always have the correct document to hand, whatever you are asked for. You can even hire a copywriting agency to do it for you. Copywriters write both CVs and resumes on a regular basis, and will be familiar with the conventions of each. If you don’t want to pay for a copywriter, have a look at some CV and resume samples and use them to help you write your own.
You’d be surprised how many people don’t know the difference between a CV and a resume. Whichever one you decide to go for, follow the conventions and write to the strengths of your chosen format, and the interviews should come flooding in. You’ll soon be on your way to that dream job.

The last two years are more important because that’s when you take the more advanced classes, but the first two years contribute equally to your GPA. Retaking a failed class will look better than not retaking it, but try not to make a habit of it.

Well here we are again and the Ohio State Buckeyes are in another BCS bowl game. Well recent history has not been good for the Buckeyes with them losing the last two BCS National Championship games. Coach Tressell has had many sleepless nights trying to figure out why they have not been able to compete with the big boys in CFB. This year they lost against the top two teams they played (USC and Penn ST). Let breakdown what the Bucks can do to change this recent history.
Most experts point to speed as the reason the Bucks have struggled against the best teams. Well this year the Bucks have one big game breaker and that is Terrell Pryor. It is a lot to ask a freshamn to step up and take over and be the difference maker but it is the only guy they have that can do it. Pryor has had a month to practice and grow in the system and think he will be ready to come into the biggest stage and shine. OSU defense has a ton of veterans so if they are going to win this the Bucks will have to get a ton of stops! Special Teams has been a big Coach Tressel assett over the years but this year this might hurt them.
Experts don’t see a ton of difference in this team and last years that ws dominated by LSU. Oddsmakers have made the Bucks a six point dog for one reason they have not beat anyone good all year. The big ten poor bowl efforts also suggest that OSU might really be in trouble here. Most believe Texas will score in the 30’s and not sure, even with a game breaker like Pryor, that OSU gets near that. Should be a very interesting game for OSU.

When you want to learn all about goal setting, the first point that is important to grasp, is to get clear on what is goal setting. So, what is goal setting?
If we think of life, we go through education, get into adulthood, and get a job. Most of the time, we do things because others have influenced us to some degree, and we are doing what others want us to do. Now there is nothing wrong with that, but you may want to change that to living life how you want to live it.
People are like ships without rudders, and setting goals is like having a rudder. Though all people set goals, there is a distinction between what the many do, and the goal setting we are talking about here. Setting goals consciously is what is important. A person trying to wake up on time and going to work in a timely fashion is not the type of goal setting we want.

To really understand all about goals the second point to consider is why set goals in the first place? As I wrote earlier, the process of setting goals is to get you in control. Instead of going through life, living how other people want to live, you can break out and live life on your terms.
Now, I am not talking about going crazy, and having a Don King hairstyle! What I mean is putting things into perspective. Though you may have a hard time with money, this is not the case all around the world. And though you may have good and clean water through a tap, others have to walk miles to find dirty water.
The process of setting goals allows you to see that multitude of difference. To say what you like and don’t like, and decide on what you really want. And then you can set about achieving that goal.

The last point I want to cover with learning all about goal setting is to consider how you actually do it. There are many methods to set goals, and everywhere you go, you may see many different systems. Are these goal setting systems worth it? It depends on how much you are committed to goal setting, and your experience.
If you have never before set goals, then try this. Sit, and spend 5 minutes to think what you want. You could think about getting a cup of coffee or something small, to test the process out. Then write it down, and consider how you might get that. Then go!

From time immemorial, jade has been closely associated with the Chinese culture.
To the Chinese people, it has the power to protect body and spirit for both the living and the deceased; they also treat it as talisman. In the West, jade is sought after for its elegance, mystique and romance.
Jade can be classified into two different types, nephrite and jadeite. They are two totally different minerals. Colours of nephrite include translucent white, yellow, green, black and the colour is always evenly distributed. Colours of jadeite include white, purple, yellow, green and others; evenness of colours varies with different textures.
Most of the jades yielded in China are nephrite. Among highly treasured pieces of nephrite are some described as “mutton fat”. As the description implies, these are pieces creamy white in colour and uniformly translucent. The majority of fine-carved jade artifacts are made of nephrite.
Jadeite is mainly produced in Burma.Since it is more prominent than nephrite in different aspects, such as texture, colour and price, it is used almost exclusively in jewellery setting, which also lead to a large demand in the market, so we will confine our discussion to jadeite.
Jadeite is also known as fei tsui. The criteria we employ for its appreciation are : colour, transparency, clarity, cutting and flaws.
COLOUR
Colour is of paramount importance. We examine the colour of fei tsui according to the following criteria:
1.Purity
Purity refers to the proportion of the prime and the secondary colours. Let’s take green fei tsui as example, the most desirable is pure green; in descending order of desirability are green tinted with yellow, blue and grey.
2.Intensity
The more saturated the green the better the jade. However, an overdone intensity is of only middling quality.
3.Vividness
The colour should be vibrant and lively. The presence of grey and black makes the green dull without altering its tint.
4.Evenness
The more even the colour, the more desirable the jade and the higher the value.
TRANSPARENCY
Transparency of fei tsui affects the refraction of light and its beauty. When light enters a transparent fei tsui with fine texture, it sparkles; if light enters an opaque fei tsui with coarse texture, it refracts dull light to the eye that reduces attractiveness.
CLARITY
Clarity refers to inclusions, which cohered with jade during the formation process, mainly in black and white. In general, white inclusions are less distracting than black ones and, of course, the less visible the inclusion the better.
CUTTING
Fei tsui is usually worked into two categories: plain polished shapes such as cabochon and carved designs. Plain polished shapes require higher grade material without flaws, and with good proportion, symmetry as well as appropriate thickness. For example, a well-cut cabochon should be neither too thick nor too thin in relation to the area of its top surface. Its “bulge” should be centered, prominent but not exaggerated.
Carved designs are often used to eliminate or minimize the effect of flaws and cracks. They are assessed on their aesthetics and the workmanship of the details.
FLAWS
Flaw lines are value-detractor of fei tsui.Fei tsui can be cracked and even broken when crashed. We can use a torch to examine cracks and flaws, so consumer should pay special attention when making purchase.
High quality jade can be sold at desirable price, however, it has a limited supply. To maximize profit, some businessmen proceed artificial treatment to jade before putting them on the market. Jade is then categorized into “A” jade, “B” jade and “C” jade.
Treated Jade
“C” Jade
“C” jade is dyed jade. During the treatment process, dyes are injected to colourless jade under a high temperature and high pressure environment. The jade will be wholly or partly be dyed into green or purple colours, however, by and by the colour of “C” jade will become dull and fade.
“B” Jade
The treatment process of “B” jade involves removing inclusions and impurities near the surface by bleaching or other chemical means, leaving mainly green and white material. Polymer resin, a chemical that solidifies into an almost colourless, clear mass, is then injected into the stone to fill up leftover space and enhance translucency. Since the structural integrity of jade is damaged during the process, flaws will appear very easily. If dye is injected during this treatment process, it can be categorized as “B + C” jade.
Natural Jade
“A” Jade
“A” jade is natural and untreated jade. Chow Sang Sang do not condone treatment processes, so we carry only “A” jade.
